With the recent popularity and growth of Crossfit along with the ESPN airing of the Reebok CrossFit Games the past couple of years that question has been asked a lot.
This is the definition from CrossFit.com:
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
CrossFit contends that a person is as fit as they are proficient in each of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy
A Crossfit gym is called a BOX. It is not like any gym that the average person has experienced.
Crossfit workouts are called WOD, “Workout of the Day. No you wont find spinning or Zumba classes at a BOX.
Can anyone do Crossfit? I would say yes but everyone shouldn’t. First as always recommended check with your doctor and then visit a BOX and check it out. Most BOX’swill give you a free visit & assessment and you can go from there.
Should decide to visit a box and get started with Crossfit let us know. We would love to know how you like the lifestyle, what you don’t like and your results.
Blessings & Stay Strong
